What is a Blog Hop? Basically, it’s a way for readers to discover authors new to them. On this stop on the Blog Hop, you’ll find a bit of information on me and one of my books and links to other authors you can explore and may enjoy.
Thanks to fellow author Annabel Joseph for inviting me to participate in this event. She writes heartfelt stories of Erotic Romance, from Historicals to Regencies to Contemporaries, all well-written, all very hot! In this Blog Hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered ten questions about our book or work-in-progress (giving you a sneak peek). We’ve also included some behind-the-scenes information about how and why we write—the characters, the inspirations, plotting and other choices we make. I hope you enjoy it!
Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!
1. What is the working Title of your book?
2. Where did the idea come from for the book?
At first, I wrote a scene out as an exercise to get started writing again, after a long hiatus. It was loosely based on a camping trip I had many years ago in Colorado, where some very odd, unexplained things happened. I embellished it from there, using a “what if?” line of thinking. The scene evolved into a novel.
3. What genre does your book come under?
Romantic Suspense with paranormal elements.
4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
For the Heroine, Sarah McKenn, someone like Jennifer Lawrence. She’s a Midwestern, wholesome-looking girl, but with that underlying sex appeal ready to bloom. Liam Hemsworth or Jared Leto would be great for the Hero, Chris (Christian) Levine, with long hair and a moustache (this is set during the height of the Cold War in the late 1970’s).
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
A frightening psychic vision leads college student Sarah McKenn into the arms of Christian Levine, the one man that could help her discover what it means- but his involvement in a secret government experiment gone wrong endangers them both. Will their psychic “soul connection” be strong enough to save them?
6. Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
I have only completed the first draft at this point, but I will consider all opportunities and avenues for publication, once it is ready.
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
About a year. I worked on other projects in between, but once I passed the halfway point, I became obsessed with finishing it.
8. What other books would you compare this story to in your genre?
I have not been reading in my genre lately, so as not to be influenced by anyone else’s writing style. I have not seen many novels set in this time period, but there have been some TV shows recently, such as The Americans, and even some movies (such as Red Dawn) that were set in this era. The Cold War period has a lot of romance and intrigue to it, so I think there are many stories yet to be told.
9. Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I meet regularly with a wonderful critique group, and they have been very supportive and have inspired me to do my best. This particular story was inspired by real events, but the characters and situations are, of course created by my imagination.
10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
There’s romance, sex, a mystery, and paranormal elements to this period piece, set against the backdrop of Cold War era intrigue. If you are looking for something different, this might be your cup of sizzling hot tea!
